Biography

Sterling Sandmann Knight was born March 5, 1989 in Sugarland, Texas, a city within the Houston metropolitan area. Sterling first discovered his passion for acting at the early age of 10 including On Golden Pond, Lost in Yonkers, Bye Bye Birdie and Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad. Sterling appeared in various plays throughout school before he had his big break as the supporting role of Alex O’Donnell in 17 Again starring Zac Efron. In his first leading television role, Sterling is currently starring as Chad Dylan Cooper in the Disney Channel series Sonny With A Chance. He also recently played Christopher Wilde, the starring role in the Disney Channel Original Movie Starstruck opposite Danielle Campbell and his Sonny With a Chance co-star Brandon Michael Smith, which had the second-highest rating on record for Disney Channel Original Movies, behind High School Musical 2.

Sterling currently resides in Los Angeles with his roommates. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, snowboarding, playing music, interacting with fans and having fun. Taking his guitar skills, Sterling formed a YouTube band with fellow star and friend Matt Shively named Connecting Channels; in this case, the channels connected being Disney and Nickelodeon, knowing that Sterling is a star for Disney while Matt is a star for Nick.
